British Columbia Invites Tech Workers To Apply For Provincial Nomination

Are you looking for better job opportunities in Canada related to the Tech Field? The British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program has recently invited 91 candidates belonging to the technological sector, to apply for a provincial nomination through the Tech Pilot Program. The Tech Draw took place on April 21, 2020, and candidates with work experience and job offers in the technology sector were invited from the Skilled Worker and International Graduate categories. Get to know the British Columbia Tech Pilot

The technology sector is delivering high economic growth in Canada in the last few years. And, tech employment is burgeoning in the province of British Columbia. To meet the rising demand of talented tech workers, the BC Provincial Nominee Program launched a Tech Pilot in 2017 and later extended it to June 2020. The Tech Pilot was introduced with an objective to accelerate the growth of the technology sector. With this pilot, employers can hire talented foreign workers and international students who can address the tech market needs. In this way, the required growth of the tech sector is not hindered.

Eligibility for the Tech Pilot

Candidates who apply through the immigration streams of the BC Provincial Nominee Program and who have a job offer from a list of 29 eligible occupations will be qualified to secure an Invitation To Apply under the Tech Pilot.

How to apply for the British Columbia Tech Pilot?

First, a candidate must register himself/herself under the Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS) of the British Columbia PNP. Then, he/she has to create a profile through the online portal in either of the categories – Skills Immigration or Express Entry BC. After completing these steps, a candidate is eligible to apply for the BC PNP Tech Pilot. The candidates are awarded points based on the following factors:

Skill level of the job offer
Minimum wage
Location of the employment
Candidate’s education, work experience, and language ability

Also, candidates who apply through the Express Entry BC stream must qualify for one of three express entry economy class programs: Canadian Experience Class, Federal Skilled Worker, or Federal Skilled Trades. Processing Fee set to be increased w.e.f April 30

Canada has passed a regulation to increase the processing fee for Canadian Permanent Residence w.e.f April 30, 2020. However, applications received before this date will be processed as per the current fee structure. Therefore, it is recommended to apply for Canada PR before April 30 and save your money.
