On September 25, Newfoundland and Labrador invited 41 workers to move forward in the provincial immigration process and seek Canadian permanent residence.
Selected foreign workers can now submit applications for provincial nomination. Once nominated by the province, they can apply to the federal government for permanent residence as provincial nominees.
In-Canada nominees may also qualify for a Bridging Open Work Permit after submitting their permanent residence applications.
Since June 9, 2026, eligible base Provincial Nominee Program nominees who have submitted a permanent residence application can apply for a Bridging Open Work Permit without first receiving an Acknowledgement of Receipt for their permanent residence application. The temporary federal measure applies to eligible nominees who meet the required conditions.
This latest selection was Newfoundland and Labrador’s 16th provincial immigration round of 2026.
No Atlantic Immigration Program candidates received invitations in this round. This was the fourth selection round of the year without Atlantic Immigration Program invitations.
As in previous rounds, the province did not provide details about the Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program streams represented in the selection. It also did not identify the sectors or occupations of the invited candidates.

Newfoundland And Labrador Selection Process
Foreign nationals must complete several steps before they can apply for permanent residence through the federal government. They must:
- Meet the eligibility requirements of the Atlantic Immigration Program or at least one Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program stream.
- Submit an Expression of Interest profile and enter the candidate pool.
- Receive an invitation based on the province’s selection priorities.
- Submit a complete nomination or endorsement application within the 60-day deadline.
- Receive a nomination or endorsement certificate after the application is approved.
After receiving the required certificate, the candidate can submit a permanent residence application to the federal government.
The province considers several factors when selecting candidates. These include employment in healthcare, employment outside major urban centres, and completion of studies at an in-province post-secondary institution.
