Between September 10 and 23, 2026, the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) issued at least 380 invitations to apply for provincial nomination. The selections focused on workers in healthcare, technology, manufacturing, agriculture, and other priority sectors.
Candidates who receive provincial nomination may apply to the federal government for Canadian permanent residence after their nomination is approved.
Provincial nominees who have submitted their permanent residence applications may also qualify for a bridging open work permit. A temporary federal measure introduced on June 9, 2026, allows eligible Alberta Opportunity Stream nominees under the base Provincial Nominee Program to apply for this permit earlier.
