British Columbia Tech Pilot
The technology sector is crucial for economic development in British Columbia. With the rapidly growing tech sector, the need for tech workers is also rising in the province.
Thus, the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program launched the Tech Pilot in 2017 with an aim to attract talented IT professionals. Through this pilot, employers can hire talented foreign workers and international students who can address the tech market needs of the province.
British Columbia has nominated 1,885 tech workers in 2020 which is way more than the number of nominations in 2019 and 2018. Through the tech pilot, 1,509 candidates secured nominations in 2019 and 1,135 in 2018. So, evidently, that the province has been successful in nominating many candidates despite the COVID-19 pandemic.
Since the launch of the Tech Pilot Program, over 6,000 tech candidates have received nominations for permanent residence.
The technology sector is booming in the Canadian provinces and British Columbia has taken a welcoming step by making Tech Pilot a permanent program. It will provide several career opportunities to skilled immigrants and will help the province in economic recovery.
