The Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP) has released its latest application timeline update for the second quarter of 2026. The new figures show that most provincial nomination applications were completed within two weeks, reflecting faster application handling compared to the previous quarter.
The latest data covers applications received and finalized between April 1 and June 30, 2026. According to information published by the Government of Saskatchewan on July 14, 2026, several application categories were completed more quickly, while the remaining categories maintained the same timelines as in the first quarter.
How Have SINP Application Timelines Changed?
The latest update shows that none of the application categories experienced longer timelines during the second quarter of 2026. Instead, application timelines either became shorter or remained unchanged.
Five of the nine application categories improved during this period.
| Application Category | Application Type | Q2: April 1 – June 30, 2026 | Q1: January 1 – March 31, 2026 |

Note: Applicants must request a second review of their provincial nomination application within 30 days of receiving an ineligible decision from the SINP. The review is only available when sufficient justification is provided and is based only on the information included in the original application.
*The SINP does not publish application timeline data for second-review requests made by applicants without a job offer.
***An Employer Position Assessment (EPA) is submitted by a Saskatchewan employer seeking approval to hire a foreign national through the SINP. The province’s service standard for this application type is six weeks.
Well, the latest figures indicate that Saskatchewan continues to improve the speed of its provincial immigration system while maintaining efficient service across most streams.
How Many Provincial Nominations Has Saskatchewan Issued?
For 2026, the federal government allocated 4,761 provincial nominations to Saskatchewan.
By June 30, 2026, the province had already issued 2,628 nominations, representing approximately 55% of its total allocation for the year.
The province divided these nominations into three different categories:
- Priority sectors: 2,380.
- Capped sectors: 1,190.
- Other sectors: 1,191.
SINP Priority Sectors (50%)
In 2026, the SINP has deemed the following seven sectors as being of priority:
- Healthcare
- Agriculture
- Skilled trades
- Mining
- Manufacturing
- Energy
- Technology
As of June 30, the province issued 1,466 nominations to workers in priority sectors.
SINP Capped Sectors (25%)
Capped sectors have a fixed annual allocation of nominations, allowing Saskatchewan to manage demand as well as distribute immigration spaces according to labour market priorities.
The following three sectors are capped in 2026, with each subject to its own nomination limit:
- Accommodation and food services (15%)
- Retail trade and other services (5%)
- Trucking (5%)
As of June 30, the province issued 718 nominations to workers in capped sectors.
SINP Other Sectors (25%)
The ‘other sectors’ category applies to sectors that have not been designated as priority sectors or subjected to nomination caps.
As of June 30, the province issued 444 nominations to workers in sectors not falling under the priority or capped category.
Saskatchewan updates its nomination figures every quarter to provide employers and applicants with the latest information.
How Do SINP Intake Windows Work?
Employers hiring workers under capped sectors can only submit applications during specific intake windows announced by the province.
To qualify, the worker must have six months or less remaining on their work permit at the time the Employer Position Assessment is submitted.
Applications are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis until all available spaces are filled.
For 2026, Saskatchewan scheduled seven intake windows. Two intake rounds are still planned later this year on:
- September 14.
- November 2.
The latest intake took place on July 6 and July 7, with 175 application spaces available across four sectors.
- Trucking (July 6): 25 spaces.
- Retail Trade And Other Services (July 6): 50.
- Accommodation (July 6): 50.
- Food Services (July 7): 50.
Note: Unlike previous intake rounds, Saskatchewan treated Accommodation and Food Services as two separate sectors.
Every capped sector reached its maximum number of available positions on the same day applications opened, showing continued employer demand across these industries.
How Can Applicants Apply Through The SINP?
Foreign nationals interested in immigrating through the International Skilled Worker category must first submit an online Expression of Interest (EOI).
After submission, candidates enter the SINP candidate pool and receive a score out of 110 points. The score is based on several factors, including work experience, language ability, education, and connections to Saskatchewan.
An Expression of Interest remains valid for one year. If it expires before receiving an invitation, applicants must submit a new profile to remain eligible.
The province regularly invites the highest-ranking candidates through Expression of Interest draws. Saskatchewan also generally issues invitations to applicants whose occupations or work experience match current labour market needs.
Moreover, candidates who receive an Invitation to Apply must submit a complete provincial nomination application within 60 days.
Applicants under the Saskatchewan Experience category follow a different process. Eligible candidates do not need to submit an Expression of Interest and may apply directly to the SINP if they meet the program requirements.
Successful applicants receive a provincial nomination from Saskatchewan. They can then submit an application for Canadian permanent residence to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). Once approved, they receive a COPR, i.e., Confirmation of Permanent Residence.
The latest update highlights Saskatchewan’s continued efforts to improve application handling while addressing labour shortages across the province. Faster application timelines, regular intake windows, and continued nomination allocations provide skilled workers and employers with additional opportunities to move forward through the provincial immigration system.
