On July 28, Newfoundland and Labrador invited 445 candidates to apply for provincial immigration through its latest selection round.
The invitations were issued under the Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program (NLPNP) and the Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP).
This was the province’s ninth immigration draw of 2026.

The province did not announce which specific NLPNP streams were included in the draw. It also did not share the occupations or industries of the invited candidates.
Based on Newfoundland and Labrador’s published Expression of Interest (EOI) prioritization criteria, candidates may receive priority for factors such as working in healthcare, sales and service occupations, studying in the province, or having strong French-language skills.
The July 28 draw was the province’s largest invitation round since March 6, 2026. It also marked a significant increase compared to the previous draw on July 10, which had the lowest number of invitations issued this year.

As of July 28, Newfoundland and Labrador had issued a total of 1,989 invitations through the NLPNP and AIP in 2026.
Invitations issued through the NLPNP accounted for 83.6% of all provincial immigration invitations this year.
How Candidates Can Be Considered?
Anyone interested in the NLPNP or the Atlantic Immigration Program must first submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) through the province’s Immigration Accelerator Portal.
Except for the entrepreneur streams under the NLPNP, most candidates need a valid job offer from an employer in Newfoundland and Labrador before submitting an EOI.
The profile includes details such as education, work experience, language ability, and plans to live in the province. Once submitted, it becomes part of the provincial EOI pool.
The province may give priority to candidates based on several factors, including:
- Employment in healthcare.
- Jobs outside major urban areas.
- Education completed in Newfoundland and Labrador.
- A strong likelihood of settling in the province for the long term.
What Happens After Receiving An Invitation?
The province regularly conducts draws and invites selected candidates to apply.
For the NLPNP, the invited candidate submits the application for a provincial nomination.
For the AIP, the employer is responsible for submitting the application for endorsement.
Successful NLPNP applicants receive a provincial nomination certificate. Successful AIP applicants receive an endorsement certificate. After receiving either document, candidates can apply to the federal government for permanent residence.
According to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), the latest application completion estimates are as follows:

An Expression of Interest remains valid for 12 months. Candidates who do not receive an invitation during that time must submit a new profile to remain eligible. For AIP candidates, the employer must complete the new submission.
