New Brunswick has selected 63 workers for further assessment under the Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP).
The province selected applications on September 25 and October 2, 2026. The applicants work in construction, education, sales, and other occupational fields.
Workers whose applications are approved will receive an endorsement certificate. This certificate allows them to apply for permanent residence through the federal government.
Eligible foreign nationals may also apply for a federal employer-specific work permit valid for two years after receiving their AIP endorsement certificate.
Moreover, workers who remain in Canada and apply for an AIP work permit before their current permit expires may benefit from maintained status. This allows them to continue working under the conditions of their existing permit while awaiting a decision on their new application.
The latest selection included the following seven occupational categories:
- Construction
- Education, social and community services
- Manufacturing
- Other trades
- Professional and IT
- Sales and services
- Transportation
The cut-off dates for the selections were September 24 and October 1, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. Atlantic Standard Time.
To qualify for the AIP, foreign workers must have a job offer from an employer designated by New Brunswick.
The province has conducted 10 AIP-specific selection rounds in 2026 so far.
Here is how the latest selection compares with earlier rounds targeting AIP applicants:
| Date Of Draw(s) | Number Of Applications Selected For Processing |
| Sept. 25 + Oct. 2 | 63 |
| Sept. 10 | 60 |
| Aug. 10 + Aug. 20 | 68 |
| July 22 | 114 |
| June 3 | 97 |
| May 1 | 50 |
| April 1 | 118 |
| Mar. 3 – 6 | 125 |
Unlike the province’s nominee program, AIP selection rounds do not issue invitations to submit new applications. Instead, they determine which existing endorsement applications will move forward for assessment.
As of October 2, New Brunswick had selected 695 AIP applicants for their endorsement applications to be assessed.
Recent Changes To The Program
New Brunswick has eased occupational restrictions under the AIP, allowing more workers to qualify for provincial endorsement.
From October 14, the province began accepting endorsement applications for all otherwise eligible occupations, with four exceptions:
- Fish and seafood plant workers (94142);
- Food service supervisors (62020);
- Restaurant and food service managers (60030); and
- Shippers and receivers (14400).
However, endorsement applications for positions offered to foreign nationals living outside Canada remain restricted to government-led recruitment initiatives in three sectors: health care, education, and construction.
The change follows the province’s September 14 announcement that it would continue pausing new employer designation applications under the AIP until the end of 2026.
New Brunswick said the extension would give Immigration New Brunswick time to review existing designated employers and reassess its priorities. The review aims to ensure that the program supports its objectives and the province’s economic needs.
