Highly skilled foreign workers who receive a job offer from certain Canadian companies may qualify for a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA)-exempt work permit. This makes the process faster and easier compared to the standard route.
There are eight specific companies in Canada that can offer this benefit. These companies are part of the Global Hypergrowth Project (GHP). Because of this, they can support employer-specific work permits under the Innovation Stream.
The GHP is a program started by the Government of Canada. Its goal is to help fast-growing and innovative companies expand. It also helps these companies hire skilled workers from around the world.
Recently, Canada announced that the Innovation Stream pilot will continue for two more years. It is now expected to run until March 22, 2028.
