Canadian immigration changed significantly in Canada. Here is the Express Entry year review. This year has been an exciting year for Express Entry in Canada. In December 2020, IRCC announced the end of its 18-month hiatus, allowing it to close in on its pre-pandemic targets for Express Entry invitations.
In the coming year, the government plans to reduce and increase immigration goals to reduce the application backlog.
Express Entry, the application management system for the Federal High Skilled Immigration Program, oversees applications for immigration from skilled workers and immigrants from all economic backgrounds.
A candidate who fulfills the Express Entry requirements can upload a profile on the IRCC website once they have collected the necessary supporting files. CRS scores will then be assigned to the candidates, allowing them to be compared against each other. The likelihood of receiving an ITA for permanent residence increases with higher test scores.
Express Entry year review – Total issued ITAs
A total of 46,538 ITAs were given out to Express Entry applicants during the 23 draws in 2022, according to ministerial directives. It covers draws conducted only for PNP (Provincial Nominee Program) participants between January and July. A total of 35,750 ITAs were submitted for only the all-program draws, which began in July and continued into December.
According to Minister Fraser, Express Entry draws for all programs will resume in July of last year. Approximately 1,500 applicants participated in the first draw on July 6.
As a result of the break-in draws during the first half of the year, there are fewer ITAs overall than in previous years. On July 6, there was the smallest draw. As ITAs increased over the next 10 draws in increments of 250 or 500 applicants, the number of ITAs topped 4,750 on October 26, November 9, and November 23.
Fall in CRS score
Recently, the Express Entry draw had a minimum score of 491 on the Comprehensive Ranking System. Over the last ten draws, points have dropped by 66. CRS scored 557 in the first draw of July.
The minimum score decreased in every subsequent draw after July 6. It was estimated that six to eight points were lost in the initial draws. The last three draws saw the smallest decreases, ranging from four to two points.
Express Entry changes set for 2023
Changes in NOC
The transition from NOC 2016 to NOC 2021 officially took place on November 16.
Under NOC 2016, applicants for Express Entry must have work experience classified as NOC skill classes 0, A, or B. For NOC 2021. IRCC adopted the TEER (Training, Education, Experience, and Responsibilities) system.
To ensure that candidates can more easily integrate into Canada’s labor force, the new approach simplifies the process of understanding a candidate’s credentials and work experience. Additionally, 16 new occupations are now eligible for Express Entry programs under the TEER system.
Total conducted draws
The Canadian Parliament passed Bill C-19 in June. Rather than only relying on CRS scores to select Express Entry candidates, the Bill allows the immigration minister to take into account applicants’ financial needs.
The minister indicated that there is still room for improvement even though Express Entry gives Canada a competitive edge.
It might have long-term difficulties if your economy is experiencing specific difficulties at the moment. That is one area where [the Express Entry system] could be improved. Fraser explained that we cannot modify the invitations to apply through Express Entry based on certain in-demand credentials or talents.
IRCC will begin organizing draws tailored to specific professions in the spring of 2023.
