On September 4, Newfoundland and Labrador invited 97 invitations to apply for provincial nomination through its Provincial Nominee Program.
The invitations give eligible candidates an opportunity to move forward with their plans for Canadian permanent residence (PR) as provincial nominees.
The latest selection was the province’s 13th selection round of 2026. The province did not issue any invitations to candidates under the Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP) during this round.
Many provincial nominees who apply for permanent residence from inside Canada may qualify for a Bridging Open Work Permit before receiving an Acknowledgement of Receipt. This can help eligible applicants maintain their ability to work while their PR application is being processed.
The September 4 draw was also the second selection round since Newfoundland and Labrador moved to an Expression of Interest (EOI) system in February 2025 in which no AIP candidates received invitations.

The province’s Office of Immigration and Multiculturalism (OIM) does not provide details about the specific NLPNP streams selected in each draw. It also does not normally disclose the sectors in which invited candidates work.
As of September 4, Newfoundland and Labrador had issued 2,556 invitations through its two provincial immigration programs in 2026. NLPNP candidates received 2,162 of these invitations, while AIP candidates received 394.
Steps To Apply For PR Through NLPNP
Foreign nationals who want to pursue permanent residence through the Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program (NLPNP) must first submit an Expression of Interest through the province’s Immigration Accelerator Portal.
The EOI allows candidates to provide information about their education, work experience, language skills, employment and plans to settle in Newfoundland and Labrador.
A valid job offer is required for all worker streams.
The OIM reviews the EOI pool and conducts selections based on the province’s immigration priorities. Candidates may receive priority for several reasons.
These can include working in healthcare, working outside major urban centres, having French-language skills or graduating from a post-secondary institution in Newfoundland and Labrador.
Candidates selected from the EOI pool must then submit a complete application for provincial nomination within the required period.
Successful applicants receive a provincial nomination certificate. They can then use the nomination to apply to the federal government for permanent residence.
After federal approval, the applicant receives a Confirmation of Permanent Residence (COPR).

Candidates should also remember that an EOI profile remains valid for 12 months.
If a candidate does not receive an invitation before the EOI expires, they must create and submit a new profile to remain in the selection pool.
