Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has issued another round of invitations to physicians through the Express Entry system.
In the latest draw, IRCC invited 229 physicians with Canadian work experience to apply for permanent residence in Canada.
Candidates needed a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 198 to receive an invitation. They also had to create their Express Entry profile before 7:40 p.m. UTC on August 6, 2026, to qualify for the draw.
The latest selection is part of Canada’s category-based Express Entry system. This system allows IRCC to invite candidates who have skills and experience that match Canada’s economic and labour market needs.

The latest physician-focused draw brings the total number of Express Entry draws held in 2026 to 52.
Compared with earlier selections for physicians with Canadian work experience, this round had the lowest number of invitations. At the same time, its CRS cut-off was the second-highest for this category during the year.
The latest draw also follows a wider trend in Canada’s Express Entry selections. Many draws in 2026 have focused on candidates who already have a connection to Canada, including provincial nominees and people with Canadian work experience.
This selection approach allows Canada to target candidates who may already have experience that fits the country’s labour market needs.

During 2026, IRCC has issued a total of 117,656 invitations to apply (ITAs) through the Express Entry system.
The Canadian Experience Class and French-language category account for the largest number of invitations issued so far this year. Other invitations have gone to provincial nominees, healthcare and social service workers, trades workers, transport workers, physicians, senior managers and skilled military recruits.
