Canada’s three provinces Ontario, British Columbia, and Manitoba have issued this week’s PNP draw results and invited qualified applicants.
With the exception of Nunavut and Quebec, each province and territory in Canada operates its own Provincial Nominee Program (PNP). These programs empower provincial governments to select economic immigrants who are likely to enhance the local economy and integrate effectively into society.
Established in 1998 to distribute the economic benefits of immigration more evenly across Canada, the PNP serves as a pathway to permanent residency. It ensures that opportunities are not solely concentrated in major urban hubs like Toronto or Vancouver.
Each PNP offers various streams designed to attract a diverse range of applicants based on their unique qualifications. These streams may cater to individuals with specific occupational experience, international students, or those with job offers from within the province. Such flexibility allows provinces to address their specific economic needs and attract candidates best suited to contribute to regional growth.
Canada’s three provinces issued this week’s PNP results
Ontario
Under the Employer Job Offer: Foreign Worker Stream, 209 candidates received Expressions of Interest (EOIs) from the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) on April 23. For these applications to be taken into consideration, they had to receive a minimum score of 53.
This draw indicated a concerted attempt to address labor shortages in particular industries by concentrating only on those with skilled craft vocations. This was the first draw of its sort since Ontario invited 630 candidates on January 9. This last draw’s smaller invitation count points to a more focused strategy in line with Ontario’s unique labor market or economic objectives.
British Columbia
A total of 86 candidates, including those in the Express Entry BC category, were invited to the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) small draw on April 23. Also, the candidates were drawn from the Skilled Worker and International Graduate streams.
Furthermore, five distinct drawings, each targeted at a certain occupation, were used to distribute the invites. 45 applicants with a background in technology were admitted to the biggest draw, which had a minimum score requirement of 120.
Invitations were extended to an additional 19 individuals with a background in healthcare who scored at least 95.
Additionally, 11 individuals from the childcare and construction sectors received invites from BC PNP. The childcare industry required a minimum score of 92 for eligibility. For construction workers, the minimum score needed was 95.
Less than five applicants from the veterinary field were also accepted; an 85 minimum score was required. By using a multi-draw strategy, BC PNP was able to meet the demands of many industries’ labor markets.
Manitoba
The Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) held its most recent draws on April 24 and sent out 327 invites in three separate streams.
Moreover, a total of 203 individuals were invited to participate in the Skilled Worker in Manitoba stream. All these individuals had completed their post-secondary education in Manitoba. To be eligible, these applicants had to receive a minimum score of 811.
Additionally, the province extended an invitation to 66 applicants from the International Education stream, with no minimum score requirements.
Finally, a proactive recruitment campaign resulted in the invitation of 58 candidates from the Skilled Worker Overseas stream. These candidates needed a minimum score of 644 in order to be eligible.
