In the most recent Express Entry draw, IRCC issued 400 ITAs to Canadian Experience Class (CEC) candidates, requiring a minimum CRS score of 547, the highest score for CEC applicants this year. On November 12, the Canadian government distributed 733 ITAs through a Provincial Nominee Program (PNP)-focused draw.
This round of invitations aligns with Canada’s new 2025 Immigration Levels Plan, which projects the admission of Moreover, 124,680 Express Entry candidates in 2025. These ITAs will contribute to the intake targets for the upcoming year, focusing on either the “In-Canada Focus” or “Federal Economic Priorities” streams.
The “In-Canada Focus” pathway seeks to welcome 82,980 permanent residents, primarily temporary residents already in Canada, including CEC and PNP candidates. This stream will account for roughly 40% of Canada’s economic immigration admissions. Also, the “Federal Economic Priorities” pathway will aim for 41,700 admissions, focusing on individuals with crucial skills in healthcare, trades, and French-speaking candidates outside Quebec.
Canada’s Express Entry
Express Entry is Canada’s immigration application system designed to help skilled newcomers obtain permanent residence through three main economic immigration programs: the Canadian Experience Class (CEC), the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), and the Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP). The system assesses candidates using the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS), which awards points based on various human capital factors, including age, occupation, language proficiency, education, and work experience.
In addition to these core factors, candidates can gain extra CRS points for specific situations, such as having a sibling living in Canada, applying with a spouse or partner, or combining education and work experience from both Canada and abroad.
Candidates applying through enhanced Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) streams can earn a substantial bonus of 600 points, which significantly boosts their CRS score and essentially guarantees an Invitation to Apply (ITA) in future draws.
Ultimately, the Canadian government ranks candidates based on their CRS score, and it issues ITAs to those with the highest scores, provided they meet the eligibility criteria for the specific draw category.
