British Columbia Issued 320 Invitations In The Latest Draw

The province of British Columbia has been actively holding Provincial Nominee Program draws even during the coronavirus interruptions. British Columbia conducted the latest draw on July 14, 2020. The province invited 320 candidates from the Skills Immigration (SI) and Express Entry British Columbia (EEBC) of the BC PNP. Almost all Provincial Nominee Programs have at least one stream aligned with the Express Entry system. The Provincial Nominee Program of British Columbia has Express Entry BC which is connected with the federal express entry. Depending on the categories of EEBC and SI streams, candidates required a minimum provincial score in order to receive an invitation.

The required minimum scores were:

EEBC: Skilled Worker, 98
EEBC: International Graduate, 98
SI: Skilled Worker, 98
SI: International Graduate, 98
SI: Entry Level and Semi-Skilled, 76

As it is seen from the list, most of the categories needed a score of 98. Only Entry Level and Semi-Skilled category of Skills Immigration required a low score of 76 points. Candidates who apply for the BC PNP through the Express Entry BC stream must create a profile in the Express Entry Immigration System. In addition to this, they need to register themselves in the Skills Immigration Registration System. However, candidates who are applying for the Skills Immigration stream do not require an express entry profile. They only need to register in the registration system (SIRS) of the province.

Express Entry BC

The Express Entry stream of British Columbia is associated with the federal Express Entry system. Potential candidates can apply to the BC PNP under the following categories of the Express Entry BC:

Skilled Workers;
International Graduates;
International post-graduates

Additionally, candidates who apply through the Express Entry BC stream must qualify for one of three express entry economy class programs: Canadian Experience Class, Federal Skilled Worker, or Federal Skilled Trades.

Skills Immigration

The other immigration stream of the BC PNP is Skills Immigration. Skilled workers, International Graduates, and Post-graduates can apply through this stream if they are not linked with the express entry immigration system.

How to apply?

First, a candidate must register himself/herself under the Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS) of the British Columbia PNP. Then, he/she has to create a profile through the online portal in either of the categories – Skills Immigration or Express Entry BC. Candidates who apply through the Skills Immigration and Express Entry categories of BC are given points based on human capital factors as well as economic factors.
