About the Global Talent Stream
The Global Talent Stream enables Canadian employers to recruit skilled foreign workers under two categories: Category A and Category B.To be eligible under Category A:
- An employer must have a referral of a designated referral partner, or
- A Quebec employer must be referred by a Quebec partner.
The role of a designated referral partner is to prove that the employer:
- Operates in Canada;
- Aims on innovation and growth; and
- Has identified a qualified foreign worker to recruit.
The employer also has to show that the open job position is specialized. Thus, the candidate must:
- Be offered a minimum of $80,000 annual base salary or higher (based on the prevailing wage of the occupation)
- Have relevant and advanced knowledge of the industry;
- Have an advanced degree in the area of interest to the employer; and
- Have relevant experience for at least five years in the field of job.
To be eligible under Category B, the employer must be hiring for a job position in one of the twelve National Occupational Classification (NOC) codes as listed below:
- Digital Media and Design (a subset of NOC 5241)
- Producer, technical, creative and artistic director and project manager- visual effects and video games (a subset of NOC 5131)
- Information systems testing technicians (NOC 2283)
- Computer Network technicians (NOC 2281)
- Web designers and developers (NOC2175)
- Computer programmers and interactive media developers (NOC 2174)
- Software engineers and designers (NOC 2173)
- Database analysts and data administrators (NOC 2172)
- Information system analysts and consultants (NOC 2171)
- Mathematicians and statisticians (a subset of NOC 2161)
- Computer engineers (NOC 2147)
- Computer and information system managers (NOC 0213)
