Immigration applications are being accepted by the Canadian province of Nova Scotia in the foodservice sector via Occupations in Demand Stream.
The restaurant and the food department were hit hard by the pandemic. Ever since food services shortages can be experienced by various provinces of Canada, including Nova Scotia.
Thus, the three latest eligible occupations recently added to the occupations in-demand list are:
- Attendants at the food counter, kitchen assistants, and domestic helpers
- Light duty cleaners
- Assistants to serve food and beverages
The fortunate news is that the employers don’t have to get LMIA (Labor Market Impact Assessment) to assess the applicant. It is also not necessary for the applicant to have six months of job experience in the Nova Scotia Provincial Nominee Program.
Jill Balser, immigration minister of Nova Scotia said that he was excited to welcome newcomers that can help employers to meet the needs of the labor market that are increasing in the province of Nova Scotia. He further added that the conditions of tourism, restaurant, and hospitality are rather critical in the province. Nova Scotia also has to gear up for the tourism season that will need workers in this sector.
Occupations in-demand for targeted profiles are divided between NOC Skill subcategorized into C and D. This is because they have been labeled as low skilled or unskilled before but during and post-pandemic the essential workers for these occupations have risen significantly.
Until the 1st of July, the population of Nova Scotia had the highest number of immigration with a 992,055 population.
Are you eligible for the Occupations in Demand stream?
To qualify for a PNP by the province of Nova Scotia via the Occupation in-demand stream one needs to have a job offer in a full-time role in any one of the following mentioned profiles.
- Transport Truck Drivers
- Heavy equipment operators
- Food counter attendants
- Servers for food and beverages
- Light duty cleaners
- Construction laborers and helpers
- Patient service associates and nurse aides
Along with this, an applicant must also have one year of employment experience related to the field of job and be aged between 21 to 55 years.
An educational degree of a high school diploma, training, the skillset are needed for the job. You have to justify yourself to have the least language credibility test of a CLB (Canadian Language Benchmark) of Level 4 in French or English.
The candidate must also show proof of being financially sustainable to settle in Nova Scotia.
