Name of the draw: Express Entry
Programs involved: Canadian Experience Class
No. of invitations: 5,956
CRS score required: 380
Canada has held a major Express Entry Invitation Round on May 31 by inviting as many as 5,956 immigration candidates.
Invited candidates have qualified to apply for PR in Canada. They required a Comprehensive Ranking System score of 380 points only. People living in Canada as Canadian Experience Class candidates received invitations in this new express entry draw.
Candidates had at least one full year of work experience while they were staying in the country. Also, required good scores in the language proficiency test.
This was the third-largest Express Entry Draw conducted by IRCC and the ministry lowered the CRS score too for this round of invitation. IRCC has issued invitations to 4,114 more applicants as compared to the previous CEC-specific draw. And the CRS score required has also gone down by 17 points in this draw.
Candidates living in Canada getting preference for PR
Since the start of the year, IRCC has been giving preference to candidates already staying in Canada for PR applications. Canada has travel restrictions in place for non-essential travel. Therefore, as of now, the ministry is issuing invitations to candidates who are likely to be physically present in Canada.
The Government of Canada believes that it is much better to invite CEC and PNP candidates considering the travel restrictions.
As per the IRCC data, nearly 95% of CEC candidates were present in the express entry pool during the newest express entry draw. The Canadian government has set the target of welcoming 108,500 new immigrants in 2021 alone. IRCC has set this target for express entry-managed immigration programs only.
The ministry of immigration of Canada has granted a total of 74,773 invitations to Express Entry candidates so far. It seems that the ministry is moving in the right direction by conducting regular express entry draws in order to achieve its immigration target for 2021.
