Canada’s three provinces, British Columbia, Alberta, and Manitoba, released PNP draw results updates. Qualified candidates obtained invitations to apply.
Inviting applicants who have the ability to seamlessly integrate into the local economy and address significant labor shortages in high-demand areas is a vital function of Canada’s Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs). The two main operating channels for these initiatives are base nomination and enhanced nomination.
Provinces choose applicants for the improved nomination procedure based on their fit for the demands of the provincial labor market from the federal Express Entry pool. In contrast, candidates who choose the basic nomination path submit an application directly to the provincial government, demonstrating their commitment to support the development of the province.
While obtaining a provincial nomination is a significant milestone, it’s essential to understand that it represents a step toward gaining permanent resident status in Canada. Nominated candidates must continue their immigration journey by submitting a separate application to IRCC to fulfill the immigration process and achieve their goal of becoming a Canadian permanent resident.
The latest PNP results updates – PNP results between October 6 to 12
British Columbia
On October 11, British Columbia conducted its most recent BC PNP draw, extending invitations to over 180 candidates. The draw comprised four distinct targeted categories, which included Skilled Worker and International Graduate candidates, including those in the Express Entry pool.
The largest draw within this event invited 118 candidates who were employed in technology-related occupations. To be considered, these candidates needed to attain a minimum score of 90 based on the province’s scoring system.
The minimum threshold for the other three draw categories was 60. The following categories and number of applicants were selected:
- A total of 45 candidates in the category of Early Childhood Educators and Assistants received invitations.
- The Healthcare Professionals category saw invitations extended to 17 candidates.
- In the Other Priority Occupations category, the number of candidates invited was minimal, with less than five individuals receiving invitations, indicating a smaller cohort for this particular draw.
With the help of these targeted draws in British Columbia, graduates and skilled professionals can pursue provincial nomination. It is an important step on the road to acquiring Canadian permanent residency.
Manitoba
Manitoba held four draws on October 5 for candidates to submit their nomination applications. A total of 542 applications were received.
A special draw was held for applicants from Manitoba who qualify as skilled workers. Job candidates whose occupations fall under major categories of the National Occupational Classification (NOC) 2021, such as:
- Officers and controllers in the technical trades and transportation
- General trades
- Among them are helpers, laborers, and drivers, as well as operators and laborers involved in transport.
In the first of the two Skilled Worker draws in Manitoba, candidates needed to achieve a minimum score of 610 to be considered for an invitation. This draw was occupation-specific, targeting candidates in specific professions falling under the NOC 2021 major groups, such as technical trades and transportation officers and controllers, General trades, Helpers and laborers, and other transport drivers, operators, and laborers. A total of 219 candidates were invited in this category.
Moreover, the second Skilled Worker draw was more general in nature, not tied to specific attributes. It resulted in the invitation of 222 candidates, and those invited had to achieve a minimum score of 629.
The other two draws were similarly deemed general, and one of them involved the Skilled Worker Overseas category, where 41 applicants required a minimum score of 601 to be invited. Additionally, invitations were extended to 60 candidates from the international education stream.
Alberta
Alberta held a minor draw on October 10 in which 13 contenders received invites. These invites were sent to applicants under the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program’s Dedicated Healthcare Pathway with Alberta Job Offer stream.
It’s important to note that all applicants assessed for this stream are also eligible for Express Entry. They must have a CRS score of at least 327 in order to qualify.
Alberta has allocated a total of 1,462 nominations for candidates in this stream for the year 2023. Notably, according to the most recent data, there are now fewer than 10 applications in the queue. It indicates that there aren’t many people awaiting their turn. This indicates that for candidates seeking nominations through this channel, there may still be 1,383 allocations available.
Conclusion
In conclusion, the recent PNP updates from British Columbia, Alberta, and Manitoba highlight their proactive approach to selecting candidates, offering opportunities for skilled workers to pursue provincial nomination in Canada.
