Ontario and B.C issue invitations for provincial nominees in the latest round of PNP draw.
The provinces and territories of Canada (except from Nunavut and Quebec) use Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs) as a means of choosing immigrants who can fit in with the local labor market and successfully integrate into the economy.
A nominee’s application for permanent resident status with the IRCC is greatly strengthened when the province nominates them through the PNP.
Every PNP functions differently. For example, the Alberta Opportunity Stream, the Rural Renewal Stream, and the Accelerated Tech Pathway have all had their guidelines revised recently. Alberta has instituted monthly application intake deadlines with specified quotas in order to expedite the processing of applications.
According to recent updates, certain streams have successfully met their application targets. For example, as of July 9, the Tourism and Hospitality Stream had received 143 applications, while the Rural Renewal Stream had received 160 applications.
Furthermore, with 444 applications filed by July 11, Alberta had achieved its goal for the Alberta Opportunity Stream.
These changes are intended to improve application processing efficiency and efficiently satisfy local economic demands.

Ontario
Within the framework of the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP), two separate draws were held by Ontario on July 9. With a minimum score of 54, 1,556 students were selected to the Masters Graduate Stream. There were contestants from every profession in this draw. In addition, 110 candidates with a minimum score of 50 were invited from the PhD Graduate Stream. This draw considered candidates from all professions.
On July 11, OINP held a second draw and invited 1,277 applicants under the Express Entry: Skilled Trades Stream. This draw was made specifically for candidates in skilled crafts occupations, where the minimum score ranged from 408 to 435.
A nominee from a province, such as Ontario, awards 600 extra points to an Express Entry candidate in the federal CRS. They will almost certainly get an ITA from IRCC for a future Express Entry draw as a result of this nomination.
British Columbia
Over 66 individuals were invited to be considered for the Skilled Worker, International Graduate, Entry-Level, and Semi-Skilled streams in five separate drawings held on July 9 under the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BCPNP).
The biggest draw was a general draw that did not target any particular occupation and attracted candidates from all streams. Candidates, except those in the Entry-Level and Semi-Skilled categories, required a minimum score of 134 to receive an invitation. Entry-Level and Semi-Skilled candidates needed a minimum score of 110.
Additionally, BC conducted four draws targeting specific occupations, considering only Skilled Worker and International Graduate candidates:
- In childcare occupations, 10 candidates were invited with a minimum score of 94.
- For construction occupations, 9 candidates received invitations with a minimum score of 95.
- Healthcare occupations saw invitations extended to 12 candidates with a minimum score of 104.
- Lastly, fewer than five candidates in veterinary care occupations were invited with a minimum score of 80.
