British Columbia and Manitoba conduct the latest PNP draws, and invited qualified applicants.
Within the framework of Canada’s federal-provincial collaboration on immigration administration, every Canadian province and territory, with the exception of Quebec and Nunavut, oversees its own Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs). By choosing immigrants who are most likely to settle and make a positive contribution to their new community, these programs aim to address specific labor market and economic needs in the target area.
IRCC annually creates the Immigration Levels Plan. It outlines the total number of new permanent residents to be admitted to Canada in the forthcoming year. In addition, this strategy lays out initial goals for the next two years, including a thorough schedule for immigrant admissions. The strategy includes a thorough analysis of the number of immigrants who will be approved under each immigration category.
For example, the IRCC has set a goal to accept 110,000 new permanent residents under the PNP in 2024 as part of the Immigration Levels Plan. This program emphasizes the significance of PNPs in Canada’s overall immigration strategy and the role that provinces and territories play in choosing immigrants who fit their demographic and economic interests.
To achieve this goal, each participating province receives a quota of nominations from IRCC. Provincial governments then select economic immigration applicants who best support the local economy and address essential labor market shortages in their region.
British Columbia and Manitoba Conduct the Latest PNP Draws
British Columbia
B.C invited provinces to submit nominations on July 3. The B.C. Provincial Nominee Program invited over seventy-two individuals, including those eligible under the Express Entry B.C. category, through the Skilled Worker and International Graduate streams.
Five distinct occupational groupings were the focus of these invitations to candidates. With 36 candidates who attained the minimal score of 122 on the Skills Immigration Registration System, the technology sector received the most invites. SIRS, although exclusive to BC PNP applicants, operates similarly to the federal Comprehensive Ranking System.
Other draws included less than five invites for veterinary care posts requiring a minimum score of 80, nine invitations for healthcare professions requiring a minimum score of 106, and fourteen invitations for childcare roles requiring a minimum score of 95. In addition, there were nine invites for childcare duties and thirteen invitations for construction jobs, all requiring a minimum score of 98.
Manitoba
On July 4th, the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program conducted a draw, issuing Letters of Advice to Apply to 126 candidates across two streams.
The Skilled Workers Overseas stream issued LAAs to 41 candidates, while the International Education stream invited 85 candidates. As part of Manitoba’s Strategic Recruitment Initiatives, candidates in the Skilled Workers Overseas stream needed to achieve a minimum score of 709 to be eligible.
