British Columbia invites high-impact immigration candidates, i.e., British Columbia has invited 279 candidates to apply for provincial nomination through the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BCPNP).
The invitations were issued on June 18 to candidates considered to have a strong economic impact on the province. Selections were based on either a high-paying job offer in a skilled occupation or a strong registration score.
This was the province’s 13th immigration draw of 2026 and the seventh draw this year focused on candidates under the Skills Immigration (SI) category.
Draw Details
More than half of the invitations in this round were issued to candidates selected based on their registration score.
| Selection Criteria | Invitations Issued | Minimum Score |
| Wage/salary + job offer | TEER 0–3 job offer, with an offered wage of at least $62/hour (≈ $125,000/year) | N/A |
| Registration score | Minimum point total | 136 |
These invitation rounds are part of British Columbia’s Innovate initiative. Through this approach, the province aims to attract highly skilled workers who can contribute to economic growth across a wide range of industries.
The province did not release details about the occupations or sectors represented in this draw.
British Columbia has also noted that future high economic impact invitations may be based on a variety of factors, including:
- Education, including level, field of study, and where it was completed
- Professional designation in the province
- Length and skill level of work experience
- Language proficiency
- Occupation
- Wage and/or skill level of the job offer
- Intention to live & work in a specific region of the province
- Strategic priorities that support provincial labour market needs, projects, or initiatives
Despite targeting high-impact candidates, British Columbia issued the fewest Skills Immigration invitations of any draw held so far in 2026.
For comparison, the province’s largest SI draw this year took place on April 22, when 484 candidates received invitations under the same selection approach.
As of June 18, British Columbia has issued a total of 2,764 invitations through its Skills Immigration category in 2026.
The province has also conducted six Entrepreneur Immigration (EI) draws this year, inviting at least 54 entrepreneurs to apply.
