IRCC is not accepting applications from international students in Canada under the new stream. The intake cap has reached its limit as already 40,000 applicants applied for the program.
There is a high demand for the English-speaking International Graduates stream as there are a large number of graduates living in Canada as temporary residents. The new stream will provide them an opportunity to get Canadian Permanent Residency.
The Canadian Language Benchmark requirement was only 5 for international graduates. In addition, one year of work experience was not a mandatory requirement. Therefore, the International Graduate stream for English speakers received a plethora of applications and reached its cap.
Please note: healthcare and essential service workers in Canada can still apply through the new streams. Also, French speakers do not have any cap for all three streams. If you are living in Canada as an international student and knows French, you can still apply for Canada PR through the stream for French speakers.
