After a January that witnessed Express Entry draws return to some semblance of normalcy, IRCC has already held two draws in February. Well, today, we will be discussing the latest Express Entry pool insights for February 2025.
January witnessed the issuance of 5,821 ITAs, i.e., Invitations to Apply. The candidates include those in the Canadian Experience Class (CEC), along with those in the enhanced Provincial Nominee Program (PNP). Last month was also the first month since June of 2024 that the IRCC did not hold an Express Entry draw for candidates with French-language proficiency.
While January as well as December only saw three Express Entry draws each, IRCC has already held two draws in February, surpassing the number of ITAs issued in the month of December.
What Were The Key Express Entry Draws Of January 2025?
Before discussing the latest Express Entry pool insights for February 2025, let us discuss what draws took place in the month of January 2025.
Well, IRCC conducted three draws in January, focusing on candidates in Canadian Experience Class as well as Provincial Nominee Programs.
Moreover, January saw more than double the number of invitations to apply (ITAs) that were issued in the month of December, with over 5,821 candidates getting ITAs.
The lack of French-proficiency draws deviates from the already established pattern of consistent selections for this group by IRCC in 2024. French-proficiency draws will continue this year as IRCC maintains its commitment to increasing the number of Francophone newcomers and immigrants outside the province of Quebec.
The number of ITAs issued in January more closely resembles the issuances of ITAs in the months before December:
| Month | ITAs Issued |
| October | 5,961 |
| November | 5,507 |
| December | 2,561 |
| January | 5,821 |
The following table is a summary of the Express Entry draws that happened in the month of January 2025:
| Draw Number | Date | Draw Type | ITAs Issued | CRS Cut-Off Score |
| 331 | January 7, 2025 | Provincial Nominee Program | 471 | 793 |
| 332 | January 8, 2025 | Canadian Experience Class | 1,350 | 542 |
| 333 | January 23, 2025 | Canadian Experience Class | 4,000 | 527 |
These draw types are a direct result of the In-Canada focus allocation for CEC & PNP candidates, as per the 2025-2027 Immigration Levels Plan. The Plan outlines Canada’s commitment to meeting its established permanent residence landing targets while targeting negative population growth in Canada.
The In-Canada Focus admissions category majorly consists of CEC as well as PNP admissions, with the alternative of inviting candidates in the FSTP and FSWP. However, this has not happened till now.
For 2025, this group has been allocated over 82,980 permanent residence admissions to Canada. This category, along with the Federal Economic Priorities allocation, makes up the majority of landings allocations under the Express Entry system in 2025.
