Invitations issued by three Canadian provinces British Columbia, Manitoba, and Prince Edward Island in the PNP draw. Provincial governments can select economic immigrants who are best suited for establishing an economic presence in their provinces thanks to the Provincial Nominee Program. An Expression of Interest (EOI) is sent to the chosen applicants, encouraging them to submit an application for provincial nomination and bolstering their case for permanent residence in Canada.
Candidates must apply to the provincial government for nomination in the event that a province offers an EOI. This means that in addition to any fees paid to IRCC for Express Entry or their application for permanent residence, you may also need to submit the necessary paperwork and pay a separate charge to the province.
Applicants can choose to be selected by a province through the Express Entry application pool (called enhanced nomination) or apply directly to a PNP program (called base nomination). The CRS gives successful Express Entry nominees an immediate 600 bonus points on their application.
Invitations issued by three Canadian provinces in the PNP draw
British Columbia
As part of the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP), which targets skilled workers and international graduates, British Columbia held five specialized lotteries on January 30. Over 194 individuals from various occupations were invited to participate in these draws. Notably, 89 individuals were chosen from among the candidates in the technology industry, who all received invites after receiving a minimum score of 103. Additionally, 29 candidates who met the minimum score criteria of 75 and were employed in construction industries received invites from the province. These targeted draws underscore British Columbia’s commitment to attracting graduates and skilled workers. The focus is particularly placed on vital industries such as technology and construction.
In the remaining three draws, candidates were required to attain a minimum score of 60.
- Invitations were extended to 49 candidates in the Childcare sector.
- The Healthcare draw resulted in 27 candidates receiving invitations.
- The Veterinary Care draw saw invitations extended to less than five candidates.
Manitoba
Manitoba has sent out 117 letters of advice to those impacted by the situation in Ukraine in response to the ongoing crisis there. Candidates who were citizens of Ukraine and satisfied the requirements for the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program’s Skilled Worker in Manitoba stream were eligible. Furthermore, candidates were required to demonstrate a strong connection to the province. This could be through community involvement, employment history, education, or familial relationships.
The province has issued a warning regarding Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) applications, indicating potential processing times exceeding six months. This caution is attributed to a backlog in the processing of applications. Manitoba has assured applicants that, if additional information is needed, the MPNP will contact them. The contact will be made through the phone number and/or email address they provided in their application.
Prince Edward Island
78 letters of interest have been sent by Prince Edward Island (PEI) to candidates in the Labor and Express Entry streams of the PEI PNP as of February 1. The recipients are those who work in early childhood education, healthcare, construction, manufacturing, food processing, and agriculture. The second PEI PNP draw of 2024 was this one.
The province emphasizes that candidates undergo assessment based on various factors. This expands the evaluation process beyond professional domains, considering additional credentials and traits.
- Language proficiency in either English or French.
- Educational background, specifying the level and field of education and the institution where it was completed.
- Skill level and work experience.
- Consideration of strategic priorities, focusing on attributes that address immediate labor market needs in Prince Edward Island (PEI).
- Evaluation of other factors relevant to employment prospects may encompass having a job offer in PEI. Additionally, prior work experience in Canada is considered in the assessment process.
