Applicants for the 2023 pool are currently being accepted to the IEC program (International Experience Canada).
The International Education Center has opened applications for up to 90,000 individuals from partner nations in response to the announcement that its program intake will be increased in 2023.
Young people from Canada’s 36 partner nations are exposed to the program and are given the opportunity to gain work experience. Furthermore, a work permit will allow approved applicants to work in Canada and travel freely around the country. According to IRCC, the expansion of the program will help to meet labor shortages in industries. Also, It was negatively affected by the epidemic, most notably tourism.
IEC program – How does it work?
In accordance with the bilateral Youth Mobility Agreement with Canada, nationals of partner countries who fall within the 18-35 age range may be eligible for IEC work permits. Also, there are three main streams under which candidates may apply:
- Holders of the Working Holiday stream may be awarded an Open Work Permit (OWP) for a maximum of two years. It enables them to work at virtually any Canadian firm.
- Individuals with job offers who plan to work for a single employer in Canada can apply for the Young Professionals stream.
- International Co-op Internships allow students from participating countries to intern with a specific Canadian company while enrolled in a post-secondary program in their home country.
A candidate interested in the program should submit their profile to the IEC pool according to the “expression of interest/invitation to apply” paradigm. In the event that they are selected, these candidates will need to submit an application for a Canadian work permit.
Applicant can work in Canada with an authorized stay upon acceptance.
Eligibility requirement of International Experienced Canada
The following requirements must be met by candidates in order to qualify for the IEC:
- Canadian citizens or passport holders can travel to 36 countries as part of their youth mobility program.
- During their visit to Canada, they must have a valid passport.
- At the time of application, the applicant must be between 18 and 35 years old (inclusive) depending on their nationality.
- An amount of $2,500 CAD should be brought to Canada.
- For the duration of their stay, residents are able to purchase health insurance.
- Entering Canada is permissible.
- If their permitted stay in Canada ends, they must have a round-trip ticket or the money to purchase one.
- They should not be accompanied by any dependents.
- Fees must be paid.
Considering that over 800,000 economic immigrants are anticipated to arrive over the next three years. Furthermore, IEC’s capacity increase comes at a time when Canada intends to welcome more immigrants than ever before. Although, IEC offers young people the opportunity to gain the necessary work experience in Canada. It allows them to apply for immigration to the country later.
