A remark on job openings
Across all Canadian industries, there were 20,700 fewer openings in November, as per recent job opening data. As a result, there will be an all-time high of 850,300 open positions by the end of 2022.
while hiring efforts have increased in recent years, job openings in the healthcare & social support, technical services, professional scientific, and construction sectors have remained consistent. Moreover, it is evident that the hiring climate in these industries will improve as the country continues to pass the COVID pandemic. As well as this improvement in the labor market can benefit newcomers, who make up approximately 100% of the labor force growth.
Migration pathways
It is a means of staying in Canada permanently as well as supporting oneself financially for many people. Considering these factors, newcomers may benefit from considering significant policy changes when choosing a route to Canada.
In some cases, provinces might accept permanent residency applications directly from newcomers through the Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs), a channel for immigration that considers education, ties to the province, and experience in in-demand professions. In 2023, the largest PR route in Canada will be PNPs, however, Express Entry will also undergo significant changes.
As a result of Bill C-19, Immigration Minister Sean Fraser has the authority to establish specific immigration categories within Express Entry. It is based on factors such as occupation, language skills, and education, in June 2022. The IRCC will issue ITA for permanent residency to eligible candidates and implement the policy in the spring of 2023.
Despite the absence of specifics, targeted Express Entry draws are expected to choose occupations in persistently unfilled sectors. And those similar to the ones listed. Bringing in newcomers to Canada to fill the shortage of workers in in-demand occupations is viewed as a solution.
