Four Canadian Provinces issued this week’s latest PNP draw results. Ontario, British Columbia, Alberta, and Prince Edward Island issued ITAs to qualified applicants.
Except for Quebec and Nunavut, every province and territory in Canada has a Provincial Nominee Program (PNP). With the help of this program, provincial governments can find applicants in the economic immigration category who have a great chance of integrating successfully into the local economy and labor force.
Selection in the PNP is frequently dependent on certain qualities that are in demand in each region. As an example, several jurisdictions hold draws specifically for applicants in specific professions; one such program is Alberta’s express entry healthcare pathway. As demonstrated by the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program’s (OINP) French-speaking skilled workers stream, candidates may also be invited based on their language ability. In addition, the majority of PNPs feature streams that are especially created for foreign graduates in the province in an effort to retain skilled individuals who have finished their education in Canada.
A province can nominate people for consideration of permanent resident status to IRCC after identifying qualified applicants through its Provincial Nominee Program (PNP). It’s important to understand that permanent residency cannot be granted by a provincial nomination alone. Still, it greatly improves the application as a whole, particularly for those applying through Express Entry. The CRS awards an additional 600 points to those who are nominated, increasing their starting point score.
Four Canadian provinces issued this week’s PNP draw results between Jan 13-19
Ontario
Invites were sent out to 984 applicants in the Express Entry French Speaking Skilled Workers stream by the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) on January 18. Notably, no specific jobs were listed because this draw was classified as a generic draw. Moreover, the selected individuals were all drawn from the Express Entry application pool. To be considered, they needed to achieve a minimum CRS score ranging from 317 to 469.
British Columbia
British Columbia extended invitations to over 193 applicants on January 16, 2019, under the BC Provincial Nominee Program (PNP), encompassing streams for skilled workers and international graduates. Furthermore, the invitations were allocated through five separate lotteries, each tailored to specific professions.
The most substantial draw targeted 91 applicants in the technology sector, necessitating a minimum score of 103 for consideration. Additionally, the province invited 20 applicants for construction roles, with a minimum score requirement of 75.
For the remaining three draws, focused on specific occupations, candidates were required to achieve a minimum score of 60 for eligibility.
- Childcare: 53 candidates were invited.
- Healthcare: Invitations were extended to 29 candidates.
- Veterinary Care: Fewer than five candidates were invited.
Alberta
Alberta recently disclosed the outcomes of the January draws conducted within the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP). All participants featured in these draws were part of the Express Entry application pool.
Under the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program’s stream with an employment offer in the province, the government conducted two draws specifically for applicants in the specialized healthcare track. On January 2, the first draw invited 42 applicants with a minimum CRS score of 309. Subsequently, on January 16, a second draw took place, requiring contenders to achieve a minimum score of 312 for consideration.
In another draw on January 11th, 44 individuals received invitations, and the same minimum score of 312 was applicable. This specific draw focused on individuals with an Alberta job offer. These candidates had to meet the eligibility criteria for the Priority sector – Agriculture occupation.
Prince Edward Island
On January 18, Prince Edward Island (PEI) utilized the PEI Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) Express Entry, Skilled Worker, and Critical Worker Streams to extend invitations to 134 applicants. To qualify for consideration, applicants were required to achieve a minimum point score of 65.
Significantly, this draw represented PEI’s inaugural Express Entry draw for the year 2024. Moreover, between February and December 2023, the province nominated a total of 2,199 candidates. This was done through its Provincial Nominee Program.
