Canada has made it mandatory for travelers to have a negative certificate for the COVID-19 test. And Canadian travelers must do a PCR test three days before they plan to travel to Canada. The PCR test is known to be the most competent one for COVID-19.
The public health minister has said that there will be more officials at the entry ports of Canada to ensure that travelers comply with the new rules.
Also, the negative COVID-19 report can in no way replace the requirement of a 14-days quarantine period. So, travelers will have to spend 14 days in quarantine despite the negative COVID-19 test. People traveling to Canada must have a quarantine plan on how they will get basic necessities like food, medicine, and groceries. Travelers who do not follow quarantine rules may end up in prison or they may have to pay a fine up to CAD $750,000.
The Government of Canada will allow some travelers to step out of quarantine on compassionate grounds such as going to a funeral. However, they will have to inform the government prior to their travel plans.
Along with the negative COVID-19 certificate and quarantine period, travelers must have the ArriveCAN mobile application.
The coronavirus cases are rapidly rising in Canada with the onset of winters. However, the distribution of the Pfizer vaccine across the country has started.
