One of the underlying reasons for an easier immigration process between Canada and the U.S is that they both share an amazing trade partnership. Also, approximately one million citizens of the U.S are settled in Canada.
Reportedly in 2019, 11,000 U.S permanent residents landed in Canada through the Express Entry Program and the Express Entry System has made several immigrations come true but that doesn’t mean it is the only program that is available for Canadian immigration.
Everybody who is looking forward to Canadian immigration needs a faster immigration process for immigrating to Canada.
Express Entry System – Faster and Easier Way Out
The U.S contributes largely with innumerable applications for skilled workers applying for permanent residency status in Canada.
The factors responsible for Canadian Permanent Residency include educational qualification, language skills, and competency in work experience.
Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP)- Addressing the labor shortage in Canada
With the birth rate reduced to low and the aging population on the rise, it has led to an acute labor shortage. The FSWP has given a chance to several skilled workers like IT Specialists, nurses, professors, etc.
To apply for Canadian Permanent Residence, meeting the FSWP requirements is important. The following are the eligibility requirements that applicants need to fulfill:
- Demonstrating language skills in French and English equal in standard to the Canadian Language Benchmark (CBL) with a minimum score of 7 with respect to all four language aspects: writing, reading, listening and speaking.
- You must have paid work experience (full-time) under the National Occupation Classification (NOC) Skill levels A, O, and B of at least one year.
- You must also display a score of 67 out of 100 while you initially enter the system. The score will be based on factors such as age, work experience, education, language proficiency, and a valid Canadian job offer.
Federal Skilled Trade Program- Federal Economic Initiative
Several individuals with professional trade skills have the option of applying for a Canadian Permanent Residency status through the FSTP. Candidates applying through FSTP tend to have reduced CRS scores as compared to the candidates applying through Express Entry.
The following eligibility criteria are required to be fulfilled through the FSTP:
- You have been employed by a valid Canadian employer with full-time work experience.
- You need to demonstrate a qualification certificate from a valid authority in Canada.
- Demonstrating language proficiency through a minimum score of CLB 4 in reading and writing and CLB 5 in speaking and listening skills.
- The minimum work experience required in trade is 2 years.
- You need to have relevant proof to support your experience and skills.
Canadian Experience Class- Requirements
- Minimum level basic language skills in French and English are required concerning reading, writing, listening, and speaking.
- Minimum 1-year work experience required. It could either be a year’s full-time job experience or 2 years of part-time work experience.
- Your work experience must be either under a temporary visa or work permit to be calculated.
Six step process to apply for Express Entry
- Figure out the basic requirements and check whether you’re able to meet them.
- Make sure you have an Express Entry profile created.
- Check out your score under the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS).
- Receiving an Invitation to Apply is a must.
- Ensure that you have all the relevant documents.
- The fee must be paid and the application must be submitted.
Provincial Nominee Program- Regulations based on provinces
Canada is a country marked with its own rules and regulations. It has 13 provinces and territories with their own set of rules to be followed because all of them have a separate governing body.
11 provinces consist of established Provincial Nominee Programs.
PNP rules to be followed are:
- Expressing and submitting your interest in a specific province is one of applying for a Canadian PR.
- You gain 600 points as additional points under your CRS score in PNP in case of a successful PNP application.
- Demonstrating your link with a specific province through a valid employment offer or through family relations living in that province can lead to increased chances of being nominated successfully. You must also show your intention of staying in that province.
Sponsoring Family Members
You can easily sponsor your family members through Family Sponsorship. Those who hold permanent residency status or Canadian citizenship have the opportunity to sponsor their spouse, parents, or children, provided that they have sufficient funds to support the family members until they accompany them in Canada.
Canada-United States-Mexico Agreement (CUSMA)
- CUSMA was previously known as NAFTA.
- It is referred to as the trade agreement between Mexico, Canada, and the U.S.
- The bond these three countries share has resulted in easy international traveling between these nations.
- This doesn’t mean that you will obtain permanent residency easily but it opens doors for Canadian immigration through work.
- U.S citizens will not have to submit the LMIA, the Labour Market Impact Assessment if they are to submit their Work Visa application.
- Canadian employers during the recruitment process need to display that they have made efforts to hire a foreign worker through Canadian citizenship or permanent residency. But in the case, if they are unable to recruit a candidate appropriate to meet the Labour Market requirement when there is an urgent need to hire someone, it would result in a positive LMIA. Many Canadian places don’t require an LMIA work permit and it increases your chances of being employed by Canadian employers.
- Immigrating to Canada through a work permit becomes easy if you have an authentic and valid work offer.
- Canadian Experience Class (CEC) makes it rather easy for you to live and work in Canada while you are waiting on the decision on your PR status.
- For applying through CEC for permanent residency status you need to have considerable work experience.
