American residents who were born to first-generation Canadian citizens are qualified for citizenship in Canada by inheritance.
To be allowed for citizenship in Canada you must have to apply for citizenship proof. There is no age limit required to apply for citizenship proof you are able to apply at any age. You are qualified to apply if your parents are not alive as well. You will have to pay $75 to apply for a citizenship certificate.
You have to show the evidence of citizenship of your biological or legal parents to IRCC. You can demonstrate your parents’ citizenship certificate, birth certificate, or citizenship card as evidence.
You can apply online as well for citizenship proof if your parents were:
- Allocated citizenship on or after 17 April 2009.
- Native Canadian on or after 15 February 1977.
If the above conditions are not applicable to you, then you are required to submit an offline application form to apply for citizenship proof.
After submitting the application and government fee, the IRCC officer will check your application to make sure that your application is complete. You will receive an acceptance receipt from the IRCC department if your given information is found true. If your case is found impenetrable then IRCC will contact you for more information and documents and the process will take more time as well.
Now you can call Canada home with the proof of citizenship document. There are several benefits of Canadian citizenship such as you can obtain a Canadian certificate, being able to vote in an election, universal healthcare, and many more. At the same moment, you will not lose your American citizenship.
You can get help from a proficient lawyer to submit your application. They make sure that you are qualified for all requirements and obtain citizenship in Canada without delay.
