Except for Quebec and Nunavut, each province and territory across Canada administers a Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) to select individuals for economic immigration who demonstrate the capacity to seamlessly integrate into the province’s workforce and economy.
These initiatives frequently conduct draws tailored for applicants with specific sought-after qualities, such as occupation or status as an international student graduating from a local institution.
Typically, applicants must secure an Expression of Interest (EOI) from the province to be eligible for nomination. Subsequently, they must submit a nomination application to the province. Successfully nominated candidates significantly enhance their prospects of obtaining permanent resident status from IRCC.
A minimum “score,” determined through a provincial scoring system similar to but distinct from the federal CRS used in Express Entry, serves as the criterion for evaluating candidates when issuing EOIs in most provinces.
