The nation is planning to reinstate its mandated random COVID-19 testing for fully immunized visitors arriving by air in order to monitor the importation of the COVID-19 virus into Canada and detect new strains of concern.
The government of Canada suspended required random testing for people who moved to Canada by air on 11 June 2022 as a part of a border imitative to shift testing for air travelers outside of airports. But now it was re-introduced from 19 July. At Vancouver, Calgary, Montreal, and Toronto’s four main airports, testing will once again be conducted.
To manage danger at the border, the Government of Canada established entrance restrictions, testing, and quarantine regulations. Testing was and will be an important part of the surveillance program in Canada in order to monitor the entrance of COVID-19 into Canada. Air travelers who do not meet the requirements for full vaccination but are chosen for random testing as well as those who do will both be notified via email within 15 minutes of completing their custom declaration.
Travelers will get information through Email that will help travelers to schedule their COVID-19 test with a testing provider. Unvaccinated travelers can nonetheless comply with quarantine rules by scheduling a virtual appointment with the test provider or an in-person appointment with them at their location or at a certain pharmacy.
Even if the province or territory has a shorter isolation period, if somehow the immigration screening test is positive, travelers must remain in isolation for 10 days starting on the day the test result was returned.
Travelers must have received two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine that has been licensed for use, or one dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, at least 14 days preceding entering Canada in order to be deemed completely immunized.
No matter if a passenger is vaccinated or not, testing will take place outside of the airport, either in a physical appointment with a testing facility or online for a self-swab test. Travelers who do not satisfy the requirements for being fully immunized must continue to self-test on days one and eight, complete a 14-day quarantine, and comply with all other requirements.
Unless otherwise specified, all travelers have to continue to use ArriveCAN mobile app to provide the necessary travel information 72 hours before their arrival in Canada.
