Canada requires foreign workers working in the fields of food processing, trucking, and agriculture. To meet the need of foreign workers, the government has expedited the process that an employer has to undergo in order to hire foreign workers.
The federal government is now allowing the employers to skip the time-consuming procedure that is required in the process of work permit. This major change is applicable for hiring in 10 occupations only related to agriculture, trucking, and food processing.

These occupations are considered high priority occupations in Canada at this time and therefore, the government is renouncing the need for an advertisement for the Labor Market Impact Assessment.
In the process of LMIA, a Canadian employer needs to prove that no Canadian resident was available for a particular opening before giving that job to a foreign worker. To do so, the employer must advertise the vacant positions for a period of three months in some cases.
