A recent report on global talent states that Canada has topped the list of most attractive destinations for foreign workers. Surprisingly, it has surpassed the United States.
The Network and The Boston Consulting Group prepared the report by surveying around 209,000 people from a total of 190 countries.
The survey suggests that the Coronvirus pandemic has changed the overall work dynamics throughout the world. Most of the foreign workers changed their preferences after the pandemic. The interest in finding work abroad has declined in 2020 and individuals are now less concerned about working overseas.
According to the current scenario, Canada, Japan, New Zealand, Singapore, and Australia are among the top ten countries where people would like to work. These countries have fewer COVID-19 cases and work conditions are also better considering the pandemic situation.
Furthermore, even popular immigration countries such as France and Germany were not present at the top positions. As a matter of fact, Italy and Spain cannot even make it to the top ten list.
Several popular cities in the world such as Barcelona, Rome, and New York have now become less desirable destinations. Whereas cities like Dubai, Tokyo, Singapore, and Abu Dhabi are gaining popularity among foreign workers.
Canada has achieved rank one in the list. Respondents who are under 30 and have master’s degrees and doctorates have shown interest to work in Canada as per the survey.
Further, Canada has surpassed the U.S. in the list. It could be due to the tough immigration measures declared by the U.S. Immigrants have now lost interest in working in the United States. Another factor that added up to this lost interest is the social unrest that people experienced in the U.S. last year.
