According to the latest by the IRCC couples and families who have multiple adults soon will be able to apply online for citizenship in Canada.
Presently, only one adult applicant is able to apply for citizenship online. From fall 2022 adults are able to submit the online application together. IRCC has started working on the extension of the e-application with the help of its multiple adults who can apply online together as a family. After that planning started for further online application extensions for minor candidates who are under the age of 18 so adults and minors are able to apply together as a family.
The implementation of the e-applications will start to develop “additional functionality for representatives”. Presently, representatives will only be able to prepare for the online application but they are not able to submit it on behalf of the client. They have to talk with IRCC on behalf of clients before and after submitting the application.
IRCC updated the system in November 2021 so applicants are able to submit IMM 5476 by using the representative form. This allows them to get help from a representative in application preparation. IRCC also updates the screening question to allow applicant’s work with representatives to help submit their applications online.
Online applications for families and minors will start later in the year and representatives in 2022, said IRCC.
In November 2021, an online portal is started by IRCC to prove citizenship applicants.
