The province of British Columbia has conducted two Provincial Nominee Program draws and invited 387 immigration candidates. Invited candidates are now eligible to apply for a British Columbia provincial nomination.
Since February, the province has been conducting two different PNP draws; one is a general draw and the other one targets immigrants with specific occupations, such as restaurant managers, wholesale trade managers, and food service managers.
Why is British Columbia conducting two draws?
As per the information provided by the province, there are several immigration candidates with the above two occupations registered in British Columbia’s SIRS (Skills Immigration Registration System).
So, British Columbia is conducting additional draws targeting these two occupations so that it can create a balance in the labor market field. And, it will allow the province to meet the labor market needs of all other sectors.
Immigration streams in both the draws
In the first draw, the province invited candidates under the Skills Immigration and Express Entry BC immigration streams. It included three sub-categories of these streams:
- Entry-level and Semi-Skilled,
- International Graduate, and
- Skilled Worker.
All 342 Candidates invited in the first draw needed to have a score between 75 and 92 points.
In the separate draw, the province invited 45 candidates with occupations NOC 0621 or 0631. They received invitations through the SI and EEBC streams of the British Columbia PNP. And the score requirement for them was 108 points.
Once you receive a provincial nomination, you become eligible to apply to IRCC for Canada Permanent Residency. Getting a provincial nomination is one of the easiest pathways to permanent residence.
