Two major draws were held by British Columbia on September 14, this year through its Provincial Nominee Program (PNP).
In a usual draw, the provincial nomination is divided into Express Entry BC (EEBC) and Skills Immigration. Through this category, British Columbia successfully sent out 365 invitations to skilled workers and foreign graduates. The invitation will enable these classes to apply for a provincial nomination.
The minimum score requirement for the Express Entry BC are further subdivided into two categories:
- Minimum score requirement of 86 for the Skilled Worker
- International Graduates cutoff score is 75
If you are a skilled worker or an international graduate who wants to immigrate to Canada, you have to follow certain norms. For starters, the candidates have their profile filled and submitted under the Express Entry System on Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) online portal.
As soon as the candidates receive an invitation for a provincial nomination, they will be granted an extra 600 points by the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS). These points will later be considered by IRCC’s Express Entry system that will be beneficial to the candidates to receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence.
The Skills Immigration itself has three subcategories that are:
- 90 for Skilled Workers
- 77 for International Graduates
- 69 for Semi-skilled and Entry Level candidates
There are certain occupations under the BC PNP Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS) for which a huge number of candidates have registered. A bonus draw had also been held by the province of B.C to bring stability to all of the sectors struggling with market and labour needs. This particular draw by B.C was carried out under EEBC and SI subcategories for specific candidates. These particular candidates were required to have an occupation that comes under the NOC 0621 or NOC 0631.
In this draw, 99 invitations were sent and the minimum score required was 105.
As of September 2021, BC PNP has issued 8,500 invitations to apply for a provincial nomination. Apart from this, invitations are sent weekly, candidates working in the technology sector are also targeted by British Columbia.
About Skills Immigration Category
This pathway enables all international skilled workers in B.C. to be eligible for a permanent residency through this pathway.
There are five subcategories under the Skilled immigration system. The initial four out of five are teamed up with the Canadian Government’s Express Entry System.
- Skilled Workers Category- Employees who have a job offer at hand already and also have professional experience in a particular occupation.
- Healthcare Professionals- Anyone who is in the healthcare industry such as doctors, nurses, physicians, and psychiatrists, medical experts are allowed through this category. They are given special preferences because of the ongoing pandemic and the need for medical professionals.
- International Graduates- This system is for those who have received their graduation degree from any one of the Canadian Universities mentioned in the list. The validation of the degree is up to three years.
- International Post-graduate category- Scholars with a Master or a Ph.D. degree who are in natural, health sciences, or even applied may be eligible for this system without necessarily having a job offer at hand.
- Entry-Level Category- For this, one does not need to be an expert in a particular skilled occupation. Semi-skilled workers can work in the tourism sector, transport, healthcare, food processing, etc.
Skills Immigration or Express Entry for the British Columbia province needs an online profile of the candidate to register them in the Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS).
Once the profile is created by the candidate, it is then analyzed, evaluated, and then granted a score based on various factors such aslanguage proficiency, education, job offers, and the region where the candidate is employed.
