Automotive Industry Workers Get An Opportunity To Work In Nova Scotia

Nova Scotia has invited candidates from the automotive industry through the latest PNP draw held on September 24. These candidates can now apply for a Nova Scotia provincial nomination. The invitations, known as letters of interest, were sent to individuals enrolled in Express Entry. This means that candidates who had profiles in the express entry pool received invitations by Nova Scotia. The province did not disclose the total number of invitations that were sent to the immigration candidates. It released the eligibility criteria only.

Eligibility Requirements

The primary occupation of the candidates invited must fall under the following National Occupational Codes:

NOC 7321: Automotive service technicians, mechanical repairers, truck and bus mechanics.
NOC 7322: Motor vehicle body repairs

Candidates should have work experience in one of the two occupations listed. Also, they need to ensure that the full-time experience is of at least two years or equivalent part-time. The work experience that the candidates have gained should be within the last five years at the time of submitting an application. Immigration candidates invited by Nova Scotia in the latest PNP draw were required to have a Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) of at least five in all language abilities of English such as Reading, Speaking, and others. While applying for the provincial nomination, candidates have to submit the copies of their language test results and an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) report as an educational proof. Furthermore, it is mandatory that candidates must have completed an academic program of at least two years from a post-secondary institution. The province has given around one month to candidates to send their complete applications for the provincial nomination. So, candidates are advised to arrange all their documents and submit the application by October 24.

Invitations issued through Labor Market Priorities Stream

In the latest draw, the province has issued invitations to candidates through the Labor Market Priorities Stream of the Nova Scotia Provincial Nominee Program. Nova Scotia invites candidates through the Labor Market Priorities Stream when it has to meet the labor market needs and fill vacancy gaps. In May, when there was a shortage of nurses, the province issued invitations to nurses through this stream.

Express Entry Profile Required

Nova Scotia Nominee Program has a Labor Market Priorities Stream, which is an “enhanced” stream. This implies that it is aligned with the federal express entry system. So, only those candidates who have an express entry profile are eligible for securing a provincial nomination from Nova Scotia through this stream. Once a candidate successfully receives a provincial nomination, he or she becomes eligible to get 600 additional points which are added to his or her CRS score.

Labour Market Priorities Stream: Express-entry aligned

This stream sends an invite to those candidates in the express entry pool who are able to meet the specific needs of high-demand occupations. In each invitation round, candidates who are associated with some specified skilled occupations are invited by the NSNP.
