This marks the second round in 2025 that Alberta has invited applicants under its Tourism and Hospitality stream.
Launched in 2024, this stream was created to help Alberta address critical labour shortages in the tourism and hospitality industry. It also supports businesses across the province in retaining skilled employees.
To qualify, applicants must have at least six months of work experience with a tourism or hospitality employer in Alberta, a valid full-time job offer from an approved company, and must meet minimum education and language criteria.
As for the May 13 draw, it was the second general draw of 2025 under the Alberta Opportunity Stream. Earlier draws this year have given preference to professionals working in aviation and construction industries.
Alberta was allocated 4,875 provincial nomination spaces for 2025. So far, 2,077 of those have already been used.
AAIP continues to update its website with key information for each stream, including available nomination spaces and the number of Expressions of Interest (EOIs) currently in the system.
Here are the latest figures for the Alberta Opportunity and Tourism and Hospitality streams:
| Stream | Nomination Allocation For 2025 | Nomination Spaces Remaining For 2025 | Number Of EOIs In Pool |
| Tourism and Hospitality Stream | 245 | 122 | 5,755 |
| Alberta Opportunity Stream | 2,592 | 1,376 | 37,934 |
Those invited through the draws now have the chance to apply for a provincial nomination. If successful, they can then apply for Canadian permanent residency using that nomination.
