Those who have been vaccinated fully and planning to travel to the U.S. need to produce a negative test report within 24 hours before they leave for the United States.
Joe Biden the president of the United States announced this rule on December 2nd as the news of the newly developed Omicron virus is making the rounds.
Starting next week, these rules will be implemented as told by the White House briefing. Travelers traveling to the U.S. from overseas have to take the test within 24 hours of their departure regardless of the nation they belong to. The vaccination status is not an exception too. The people who are not completely vaccinated shall not be allowed to enter the United States, except for a few special cases.
After Canada imposed new travel restrictions and announced that travelers from the United States will not be enforced with these travel restrictions. Canada currently doesn’t allow international travel (except U.S. travelers) to enter Canadian borders without getting tested at the airport. The traveler is to be quarantined until the test results come in.
The health minister of Canada, Jean-Yves Duclos announced that the federal government would strive to reach out to the provinces and talk about the measures with the United States. Until now, there haven’t been any further developments that have been made public after November 30th.
The voyagers need to be vaccinated fully to travel through a train or a flight in Canada.
Canadian Travel measures
With the outbreak of the new virus variant of COVID-19, Omicron, travelers from the following countries have been banned to enter the Canadian borders.
- Nigeria
- Zimbabwe
- Egypt
- Lesotho
- Namibia
- Eswatini
- Botswana
- Mozambique
- Malawi
- South Africa
International voyagers that have been traveling from these countries to Canada in the past couple of weeks will not be allowed to enter Canada. Only those who have been vaccinated fully and are residents of Canada shall be allowed a negative PCR test within the time frame of their travel in the third country. Once they arrive in Canada they shall be retested and sent in quarantine for 14 days and be tested again on the eighth day.
While waiting for their test results to arrive, the travelers will be sent to a quarantine facility upon the arrival of their air travel in Canada. A negative test report shall refrain a passenger to leave the isolation facility.
As soon as the passenger lands they will be sent off to the quarantine center that is mentioned on their quarantine plan. If they fail to provide a quarantine plan, they shall be sent to the quarantine facility decided by the government authorities of Canada.
