IRCC held the fourth Express Entry draw of this week and issued ITAs to qualified applicants. 400 applicants received invitations in this week’s fourth category-based selection draw for agriculture and agri-food occupations.
In this draw, candidates had to have a minimum CRS score of 386 in order to be eligible for an ITA. Three more draws on December 18, 19, and 20 precede this one. 1,325 candidates with a minimum CRS of 542 were invited to the all-program draw on December 18.
In the second category-based draw for trades jobs this year, which required a minimum CRS score of 425, the IRCC invited 1,000 candidates on December 19. Initially, 1,500 individuals were invited to the August 3 draw.
In a category-based selection draw for transport vocations, the IRCC invited 670 candidates on December 20th, with a minimum CRS score requirement of 435.
Three draws occurred the week before. In a category-based selection draw for STEM jobs, 5,900 applicants with a minimum CRS of 481 were invited on December 8. A French language proficiency draw was held on December 7th, inviting 1,000 candidates with a minimum CRS of 470.
A month-long break ended with an all-program draw on December 6 that required a minimum CRS of 561. The most recent draw, which was a category-based selection draw for healthcare jobs, took place on October 26.
The reason for the draw stoppage was not verified by the IRCC. A tweet about an IT problem with the Express Entry profile builder was made on November 14. Draws were rectified on November 16, however they did not start up right away. The Comprehensive Ranking System improvements, staffing changes, IT problems, and reaching Express Entry targets are some of the possible causes of the delay

An overview of Express Entry
Canada’s Express Entry system revolutionizes immigration, employing a dynamic points-based approach to select skilled candidates. Prospective immigrants create profiles showcasing their qualifications, work experience, education, language proficiency, and more. The system awards CRS scores based on these factors, fostering a competitive environment where high-scoring candidates receive ITAs during regular draws. These draws, conducted by IRCC, are pivotal moments for candidates. Successful applicants, upon receiving an ITA, proceed to apply for permanent residence, navigating a streamlined and efficient process.
Express Entry is flexible, adjusting to the demands of the labor market and giving preference to those who have the potential to make major contributions to the Canadian economy. This proactive approach demonstrates Canada’s dedication to drawing in the best talent from around the world while maintaining an easy-to-use, merit-based immigration process.
Understanding the concept of category-based selection
Sean Fraser, Canada’s minister of immigration, introduced category-based selection draws for applicants under Express Entry. Candidates with strong French language proficiency or employment experience in the healthcare, STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics), trades (such as carpentry and plumbing), transportation, and agriculture/agri-food sectors will be given priority by IRCC. Through focusing on qualified individuals in these particular fields, the IRCC hopes to uphold Canada’s promise to accept highly qualified professionals and support local communities around the country. This program aligns with Canada’s ongoing efforts to attract and integrate talented individuals. It recognizes the diverse contributions of various industries, fostering economic and social advancement within the nation.
ITAs issued during category-based selection rounds will contribute to meeting the Federal High Skilled (Express Entry) worker targets outlined in the Immigration Levels Plan. Through the Express Entry system, Canada intends to accept up to 114,000 new permanent residents yearly over the course of the following three years, ending at the end of 2025. This tactical move emphasizes the importance of skilled workers within the Federal High Skilled category by ensuring that ITAs issued under particular categories are in line with more general immigration aims. By include these ITAs in the overall goals, Canada hopes to effectively oversee the entry of qualified professionals via Express Entry, bolstering its commitment to deliberate and regulated immigration within the allotted period.
