There will be some developments for each sector of Immigration in Canada such as Express Entry, Provincial Nominee Programs, Language test centers, and others.

Will Express Entry open all program draws?

Since the implementation of travel restrictions, the Express Entry System has become unpredictable and conducted program-specific draws only. It invites candidates from Provincial Nominee Program and Canadian Experience Class. Possibly, because the candidates belonging to these two immigration programs are already present in Canada and therefore they are not impacted due to the travel ban. Before the travel restrictions, Canada used to invite candidates from all programs – Federal Skilled Trades Program, Federal Skilled Worker Program, and the Candian Experience Class program. And it held draws every two weeks typically on Wednesdays. However, the trend got changed due to the coronavirus crisis and Canada begin targeting PNP and CEC candidates only to invite for an application for Canadian Permanent Residence. It has been assumed that Canada will conduct four Express Entry draws in June. And since Express Entry is the main source of immigration for Canada, the country attempts to welcome immigrants from the entire world. Therefore, the Express Entry system might start conducting regular draws for other immigration programs as well.

Provincial Nominee Program Draws

PNP draws are conducted based on the labor market needs of a particular province. So, it is not easy to predict the timing of the provincial nominee program draws. However, the Tech Pilot Draw by the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program is conducted every week despite the travel restrictions. The province extended this popular pilot program up to June 2020. Soon, British Columbia might release an update regarding the future of the Tech Pilot. The province of Alberta conducts Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program draw once in a month. But the details of the draw are released much later. The latest draw was held on May 13 and Alberta posted the details of this draw recently. Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program was conducting draws twice a month. However, the coronavirus crisis impacted the draws for Saskatchewan as the latest draw was held on May 28 after a gap of nearly two months. Ontario is one such province that is known to hold the most provincial nominee draws. The Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program has conducted eight draws this year with the latest one being held on May 13.

Quebec will add new reforms

Quebec has its own immigration system which is different from other provinces. It is expected that Quebec will add some new requirements to its Quebec Experience Program this month. And the french-speaking province might introduce new pilot programs for nurses and tech workers in the coming weeks.

Language testing centers set to re-open

The language test result is one of the most essential documents required for Canadian Immigration. However, the closure of famous centers like IELTS and CELPIP created difficulty for individuals who wanted to submit their express entry profiles. Now, the centers would be re-opened in most of the locations from this month onwards. CELPIP is already taking tests in British Columbia, Alberta, Hong Kong, and Manitoba.
