Once you’ve applied for permanent residence, immigration, citizenship in Canada, and refugee, all your information needs to be confirmed by IRCC.
In the case of applications concerning economic immigration, you will be required to submit all the relevant documents as proof of your work in Canada.
How does IRCC verify your work experience?
IRCC uses several methods to verify all the information you submit through your application for Permanent Residency in Canada.
Reference Letter for those who have an employer
- To prove your experience of working in Canada over the last ten years, the most convenient way out would be to showcase a reference letter from your employer.
- The reference letter must prove your experience as an employee working under a specific employer for the period you mentioned in your claim.
- You must choose the apt NOC code matching your previous past job positions.
- A Visa application officer will calculate the amount of time you have worked. He will calculate this based on the reference letter.
- Whether the officer accepts or rejects your application will depend upon your qualifying eligibility criteria. Whether you qualify or not depends on the quality and authenticity of your reference letter.
- The officer will also determine whether your work experience stands valid or not.
- The absence of information might lead to the rejection of your application.
Reference Letter for Self-Employed Individuals
- You will need documents other than a reference letter in case you’re self-employed.
- Solid evidence supporting your self-employment claim.
- You will need to prove your income as a self-employed individual.
- Document proof from third parties regarding the services you provide.
- Documents displaying the payment details.
Verification through call
Your Visa application officer or immigration officer might even call your employer to confirm your work experience claim. However, he doesn’t necessarily have to make a call, it solely depends on him.
Business Registration Verification
The officer might use this method of investigating and confirming the business registration details of your employer.
- He might check the accuracy of the credentials you’ve submitted such as the business address and contact number.
- The business address must not be a residential one and the contact number or email id must not be private.
NOC Code Confirmation
- You must ensure that the duties listed in your reference letter are perfectly in sync with those mentioned in the NOC code.
- The list of duties must be elaborated in a way that they appear genuine and also clearly depict the job role you performed.
Additional Documents Required
If your immigration officer is not entirely satisfied and convinced with your work experience documents, IRCC might ask for more documents to continue with the process.
The other supporting documents will depend on your circumstances and what you have already submitted.
Work Experience in Canada
- To investigate your job in Canada, the officer is likely to ask you to submit Tax-related documents.
- This is done to assess that your employment isn’t a part of self-employment because self-employment doesn’t qualify for is not included in CEC (Canadian Experience Class-Eligibility).
- You must submit copies of your study and work permits to validate your work permit.
When does an application get rejected?
- Non-submission of a reference letter with your application will lead to rejection.
- Missing documents is another reason why your application can be rejected.
- Submission of personally attested affidavits can lead to rejection.
- Once your application is rejected, you will need to re-apply with yet another application for permanent residence.
- In the case of application procedure through Express Entry Program, you will need to receive an invitation to apply (ITA) again.
Inaccurate Information
The simple rule is to go ahead with your immigration application process with the utmost honesty and transparency.
- As an applicant, you must avoid providing any false information or details.
- If you are caught doing any fraud during the application process then you will have to face a five-year ban in the country.
- Do not misrepresent anything for a smooth experience during the Visa application process.
If you keep all of the above in mind, your Canadian immigration process will be seamless, and permanently settling in Canada won’t be an impossible task.
