It was announced by IRCC on September 14 that 3,250 invitations to apply were issued. A CRS score of at least 510 enables a candidate to apply for the Express Entry system. This Express Entry draw included Federal Skilled Workers Programs, Canadian Experience Class, and Canadian Skilled Trades Programs.
ITAs award to 250 candidates in each draw until August 31. This week’s ITA draw continues the trend set last week and as there were 500 ITAs last week. As a result, each draw has resulted in an eight to nine-point decrease in the minimum CRS score. It is notable that this draw resulted in only a five-point loss. It was 557 that gave the lowest CRS score on July 6 in the draw.
Express Entry draws were suspended for over 18 months by the IRCC. The Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) and CEC were the only options available during this time to apply for permanent residency.
On schedule, Canada will get roughly 432,000 immigrants
By the end of 2022, Canada may surpass its current annual record of 405 330 new immigrants, according to immigration minister Sean Fraser. Almost 300,000 new citizens had already become permanent residents of Canada by June.
In this year’s Express Entry program, 40,785 immigrants have been accept. If immigration increases at the current rate, Canada may even surpass the objective of approximately 432,000 immigrants set forth in the Immigration Levels Plan for 2022. For the IRCC, these numbers have been accommodated by making their application process entirely digital and hiring 1,250 new employees.
The Canadian government continues to push immigration in order to cope with the country’s record-low unemployment rate and one million open jobs. Without immigration, Canada’s labor force and economy cannot support its low birth rate and rising retirement age.
2023 will bring changes
The IRCC will redesign Express Entry in 2023 to target labor market gaps better. Governments now have the power to grant ITAs based on a person’s education, work experience, or language proficiency. They may consider any candidate they think will benefit Canada’s economy and labor force. Some upcoming draws may lose some significance. CRS scores won’t be as helpful in some cases.
The Immigration Minister, Sean Fraser, spoke on stage at Collision in June to justify this idea, saying, “We can introduce people who can hit the ground running in the next 20-30 years and have a huge economic impact if we are able to project the talents that are needed.”
About Express Entry
The Canadian government has introduced Express Entry to streamline the immigration process for skilled workers. An Express Entry system includes a pool of qualified candidates from which the government selects applicants for permanent residency. Candidates who meet the requirements of the FSWP (Federal Skilled workers program), FSTP, (Federal Skilled Trade Program), and CEC (Canadian Experience Class) may apply through Express Entry. A genuine job offer from a Canadian business is also require. It is the ability to secure a provincial nomination.
CRS is use to rank candidate profiles for Express Entry. ITAs are then issue to the top-scoring candidates. After receiving that, they can then submit their permanent residency application.
An official from IRCC will evaluate the application after the candidate has submitted it. This evaluation process could involve requesting biometrics, scheduling an interview, or asking for additional paperwork. The application will make the applicant a permanent resident of Canada and will be one step closer to obtaining Canadian citizenship if the application is approve. The country’s economy cannot survive without immigration. If the application is approve, the applicant will become a permanent resident and will become one step closer to becoming a citizen of Canada.
