Mandatory requirement for people traveling to Canada

Canada has now announced new requirements for people entering the country. These requirements are mandatory and each traveler must fulfill them. People traveling to Canada in the coming times will have to use the ArriveCAN app. This is a free app that was launched in April 2020 with an aim to limit the spread of the coronavirus and help travelers adhere to border measures.

What to do before coming to Canada?

From November 21 onwards, people who are boarding their flight to Canada have to submit their information through the ArriveCAN app before they board the flight. The details that they have to submit include their contact information, travel plans, quarantine plan, and a self-assessment of COVID-19 symptoms. Travelers will be required to show their information through the ArriveCAN receipt when they enter the border. The officers of the Canada Border Service Agency will verify the information submitted by the travelers.

After arriving in Canada

All travelers to Canada who enter the border by land, air, or marine will have to submit their information through ArriveCAN starting from November 21, 2020. They can also share their information by calling on the toll-free number: 1-833-641-0343. Travelers who are exempt as per the Mandatory Isolation Order do not have to complete this process. Within a period of 48 hours, travelers arriving in Canada have to confirm their arrival when they reach their quarantine place. Also, they have to complete the daily self-assessment for COVID-19 symptoms. Please note: Travelers who do not submit their information through ArriveCAN before boarding their flight will have to call at the 1-833-641-0343 number every day during their self-quarantine period and give information regarding their symptoms. They will not be allowed to use ArriveCAN afterward if they do not use it before arriving in Canada. The Government of Canada has stated that ArriveCAN does not impede the privacy of travelers and it does not have a GPS to track the traveler’s movements.
