Provincial immigration nominations are issued by BC and Manitoba. Both British Columbia and Manitoba have recently extended invitations to potential immigrants to apply through their Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs).
These requests for applications, also known as ITAs (Invitations to Apply), are a part of the provinces’ attempts to draw in qualified workers who can boost their regional economies.
These ITAs were given to individuals who were chosen from different PNP streams. These streams usually target highly qualified professionals with experience in important industries, people who have received job offers from inside the province, or people who have previously finished their education in the province nominating them.
Immigration outcomes from May 3rd to May 10th
Different Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs) use different scoring methods to assess applicants for immigration. It is therefore not advisable to compare cut-off scores amongst PNPs. It should be noted that while all provinces use the same title for ITAs, “Notifications of Interest” or “Letters of Advice to Apply,” are some variations on the phrase.
British Columbia
Through its Skilled Worker and International Graduate streams within the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BCPNP), which also includes the Express Entry British Columbia option, British Columbia sent invitations to at least 77 individuals.
Those with qualifying work experience in industries like healthcare, childcare, technology, construction, and veterinary care—which are among the industries where the BCPNP targets high-demand jobs—were invited. Every draw had a different minimum score with different cut-off points.
- Childcare draw: Cut-off score set at 90.
- Construction draw: Cut-off score established at 93.
- Healthcare draw: Cut-off score reached 100.
- Tech draw: Cut-off score elevated to 120.
- Veterinary care draw: Cut-off score lowered to 80.
The Express Entry British Columbia option is part of the International Graduate stream, which caters to individuals who have completed their education at an accredited Canadian university or college within the last three years. Applicants must have a job offer from a company located in British Columbia in order to be eligible for this stream. The addition of the “EEBC option” denotes an improvement and synchronization of this stream with the federal Express Entry system. As a result, qualifying candidates from the Express Entry pool may get invitations from the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program through this stream, making it easier for them to immigrate to and settle in the province.
Manitoba
Through the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP), 371 candidates received invitations from Manitoba this week. These invites were sent out in three different streams, along with a draw tailored to a particular occupation.
The first draw focused on professions that matched the province’s significant need for workers. Candidates with professional experience in occupations that corresponded to particular NOC codes were granted 18 ITAs in this draw.
- Occupation NOC code 72024 refers to Supervisors in motor transport and other ground transit operations.
- Occupation NOC code 73301 pertains to Bus drivers, subway operators, and other transit operators.
Canada’s national framework for classifying and designating different occupations in the nation’s labor market is the NOC system.
In the second draw, the all-program selection process for the Manitoba Work Experience and Employer Direct Recruitment paths under the Skilled Worker in Manitoba stream invited 242 qualified applicants. To qualify, candidates had to achieve a minimum ranking score of 836.
The International Education Stream was the focus of the third draw, which invited 76 eligible applicants. This stream serves Manitoban school graduates who meet the demands of the province’s labor market. It consists of three pathways: International Student Entrepreneur, Graduate Internship, and Career Employment.
The fourth draw of the Skilled Worker Overseas stream chose 35 candidates who met the minimum ranking score requirement of 698. This stream simplifies the process of nominating qualified foreign candidates with professional experience and in-demand skills for immigration to Manitoba. It consists of the Human Capital and Manitoba Express Entry routes.
Out of the 371 invited applicants, 66 asserted possession of a current Express Entry profile and job seeker validation code.
