Prince Edward Island holds the largest immigration draw, i.e., the Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP) recently held its biggest immigration draw of the year, sending invitations to almost 200 people to apply for provincial nomination.
The province focused on inviting people who were already working in PEI. They also gave extra consideration to those who spoke French and international students who graduated from local schools.
Draw Results From November 20
The PEI PNP issued 190 invitations through its Labour & Express Entry category. This was the largest draw the province has held so far this year.
Moreover, PEI invited candidates who work in jobs the province needs and those who speak French. The goal was to invite people who could help the province’s economy grow. Specifically, the following groups were prioritized:
- People already working for an employer in PEI.
- International students who graduated from these local Designated Learning Institutions (DLIs):
- The University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI)
- Holland College
- Collège de L’îlle
During 2025, the PEI PNP has only been issuing invitations through the Labour and Express Entry category. They mainly invite people who are already working in PEI or who are international graduates.
The Last Scheduled Draw Is December 18
The PEI PNP is different from other Canadian immigration programs because it shares a calendar of when it plans to issue Invitations to Apply (ITAs).
The November 20 draw was the second-last one scheduled for this year. The final planned draw is set for December 18.
It is worth noting that PEI also held one extra, unscheduled draw on October 27. The province might hold another unplanned draw before the end of the year, but this is not confirmed yet.
How PEI’s Expression Of Interest (EOI) System Works?
As Prince Edward Island holds the largest immigration draw, let us discuss how the province’s Expression of Interest (EOI) system works.
Well, the PEI PNP uses an EOI system to rank people who are most likely to help the province’s economy and job market. This system reviews profiles using several key factors, including:
- Language: How good a person is at speaking English or French.
- Education: Their level of schooling, what they studied, and where they went to school.
- Skills and Work Experience: If their skills match jobs that are currently in high demand in PEI.
- Strategic Priorities: How well the person fits the current needs of PEI’s job market.
- Employment Prospects: Things like having a valid job offer in PEI or having prior work experience in Canada.
People with high EOI scores and a good chance of living and working successfully in the province are more likely to receive an invitation to apply for nomination.
