Canada’s three provinces British Columbia, Ontario, and Saskatchewan, released this week’s latest PNP draws update. As per this update, these provinces issue invitations to qualified applicants through Provincial Nominee Program.
Quebec and Nunavut are the only two Canadian provinces and territories that do not provide Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs) or streams that expressly target applicants who can help them achieve their economic objectives, such as alleviating labor shortages. Additionally, several PNPs have streams specifically designed to draw French-speaking immigrants, fostering the usage of the French language outside of Quebec.
Recent changes to the federal Express Entry system are in line with these streams. On May 31, the province disclosed that, in addition to the customary high CRS score, qualified candidates might be invited based on category-based selection. Similar to the PNP criterion, candidates with experience in particular occupations may now have an edge in the selection process.
It is still necessary for anyone whose application for permanent residency has been accepted by a province to submit a separate application to IRCC.
