British Columbia conducts its weekly PNP invitation round last week, and Ontario held another key draw for the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP).
The majority of territories and provinces of Canada are self-governing PNPs except for Nunavut and Quebec. These programs may invite candidates who are interested in provincial enrollment. The process of becoming a permanent resident can be facilitated by a provincial nomination, although it is not the only method.
For example, the score of PNP candidates with a nominated Express Entry profile would rise by 600 points. Additionally, they become qualified to be invited to a specific series of PNP invitations. On 6 July, the first draw for all programs since 2020 was conducted by the province, and 1500 people applied for Express Entry with a minimum of 557 CRS score to receive an invitation to apply (ITA) for permanent resident. On Wednesday, July 20, there will be an Express Entry draw expected to be scheduled.
Two Canadian provinces recently announced plans to accept potential immigrants as part of their Provincial Nominee Programs. The new draws are listed below.
British Columbia
A round of invites for the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) typically takes place in British Columbia once each week.
The British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BCPNP) encouraged a number of people to submit nomination applications this week. In these draws, over 164 candidates were given invitations to submit applications for provincial nominations.
A random draw was used to choose 132 of these applicants. These applicants must satisfy the prerequisites categories of skills immigration and one of the Express Entry British Columbia which are administrated by SIRS.
Candidates in the Skilled Worker, International Graduate, Entry Level, and Semi-Skilled subcategories as well as those in the Entry Level and Semi-Skilled subcategories receive invitations to this draw and must achieve a minimum provincial score of between 78 and 130 depending on composition.
The province has also conducted rounds to invite candidates for specific jobs over several weeks to meet the growing labor demand in a number of different economic sectors. This week, the province sent invitations to the following people:
Ontario
A total of 755 candidates are invited through ONIP (Ontario Skilled Trade Stream), invited candidates must be Qualified for the eligibility requirements of ONIP. These applicants must have a 310 CRS score on their Express Entry profile. Ontario sent invitations to applicants who built an Express Entry profile between July 14, 2021, and July 14, 2022.
Applicants for the Federal Skilled Worker Program and the Canadian Experience Class can obtain permanent residency through Ontario’s skilled trades stream. Applicants who want to submit an application for a provincial nomination have to be qualified for the requirements of the province if they meet the requirement then they are able to apply through ONIP.
Only those candidates are considered who are residents of Ontario and they have a current work permit as well. In addition, it is important to have a minimum of one year of equivalent part-time or full-time work experience to be qualified. The province’s National Occupational Classification requires that they have completed this work experience in one of the skilled occupations.
