Last week, the PNP (Provincial Nominee Program) draws results were released by three provinces of Canada.
Most provinces and territories of Canada have operated their PNP draws on their own. Those candidates who are interested are invited to apply for the provincial nomination through the PNP. Even though a provincial nomination is not the same as a permanent residence but the chances of getting a permanent residence will increase through this nomination program. Those candidates who have profiles in the Express Entry get 600 points which are added to their score, and they will become eligible to apply for a PNP invitation round.
This program was launched in 1998 in Canada. 400 candidates were invited through PNP when it was launched. After the success of this program, every year more than 80,000 immigrants are invited through this program. The expanding number of PNP candidates reflects that the federal and provincial program is an effective tools to promote the economic development of Canada.
The Express Entry draws are held every two weeks by the province, the last draw was held on 27 April and the next draw will be expected on 11 May. From September 2021, the PNP has started focusing again on the Express Entry draws.
The government of Canada will increase the number of annual Express Entry nominations to over 110,000 immigrants by the year 2024.
